01 / THE PROJECT

A passion that
opens doors.

Created by Sofia Romano, a student at the American School of Rio de Janeiro, Theater Without Borders grew from a desire to make the performing arts more accessible to young people from low-income backgrounds.

The project brings together EARJ students and young people from the Semearte sociocultural association in Rocinha. Together, they find a space for exchange, learning and expression through theater — where different life experiences enrich the scene.

02 / THEATER THAT CONNECTS

Every connection
brings a scene to life.

From the first reading to working together, each session is an opportunity to learn from one another.

01

Learn from experience

Theater training is led by Daniel Herz, a director, actor and teacher. Technique meets creativity through hands-on performing arts practice.

02

Create together

EARJ students and young people from Semearte share their experiences and develop scenes in a collaborative environment.

03

Give new stories a voice

Working with Romeo and Juliet connects Shakespeare’s text to the young people’s experiences, making room for their own interpretations.

03 / IN THE PRESS

A story worth
sharing.
